| Shane King Feirstein, Bar Manager Shane K. Feirstein was born and raised in Scarsdale, New York. He first came to the Pacific Northwest in 2001, where he attended the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, graduating in 2004. Shane moved to New York City, where he began earnestly pursuing his interest in food. He cut his teeth by working as a food runner and barista at Union Square Cafe, a Danny Meyer institution with a reputation for impeccable service. Shane's next stop on the New York food scene was Murray's Cheese Shop, renowned for its selection of artisan cheeses and charcuterie from around the world. He found that his favorite aspect of working the ridiculously busy counter there was discussing cheese and wine pairings with his customers, and honing his own palate.
While living in New York, Shane maintained close connections to the Pacific Northwest and visited as frequently as he could. In 2007, he decided to pack up and give Portland a try, excited to join its dynamic food culture. His first food gig in Portland was working the counter at Steve's Cheese. He's been a familiar face at Park Kitchen for two years, serving and bartending, and as of January '09 has taken over cocktail creation and bar management for the restaurant. A true "spirits geek," Shane's goal for the bar program at PK is for it to reflect the intent of the kitchen and cuisine; he emphasizes a seasonal cocktail list and curates a selection of local, domestic and historically significant spirits. Shane is dedicated to the craft of bartending and is always honored to pair wines, cocktails, and any manner of beverages with the inspired dishes coming out of the kitchen.
